Chen Min Suen

MA Fine Arts
2021 — 2022

Suen graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a BA in Philosophy in 2020. Her interest in pursuing art was first motivated by Nietzschean aesthetics during her undergraduate studies.

Interested in exploring alternative perceptions of everyday reality, Suen’s artistic research looks at ideas of the transformation and materiality of food sources. Her art practice focuses on the experimental process of examining food materials and reconfiguring them as both forms and social commentaries relating to the mundane/everyday. The study of routines such as documenting, heating and drying of materials with temporal elements of water and heat are central to her practice.

Since 2021, Suen has participated as a member of NAIKAN art collective and has exhibited with them in Emit.Time at I_S_L_A_N_D_S and Well:beings at HEARTH, an art platform by Art Outreach.
