An enclosed terrarium houses a little boy, who is taken care of by a giant hand. Even though the hand always brings toys to make the boy happy, the boy quickly tires of everything. One day, the boy catches sight of live animals for the first time. The sense of companionship with the creatures soon grows into a strong interest in life outside the terrarium. Unhappy with this turn of events and afraid of losing the boy, the hand moves the terrarium to a dark cabinet that nobody can access. Distraught, the boy slowly falls into despair.
