May the Shadows Burn Again is a documentary about Mr Yang, a puppetmaster who performs a ritual puppet play, Mulian Saves His Mother, for the first time in three years. Set against the backdrop of this increasingly rare artform, the film is a reflection of the dying cultures as well as Mr Yang's own mortality as he stands alone against the ravages of time. The film searches for answers on the spiritual and supernatural elements of this tradition, in this poignant glimpse into the director's childhood.
