Benedict Ong

BA(Hons) Music
2019 — 2022

Benedict is graduating with a BA(Hons) Music from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2022. Specialising in piano performance, he is a classically-trained pianist, educator and collaborator. He hopes to reach out and enable his students and audiences to cultivate their passion for music. As an educator, he understands that all children deserve to learn and appreciate music in a fun environment, and it is his job to bring across the right musical knowledge and intention for growing musicians. Benedict is also motivated to become a professional performer in future who tells stories and transmits emotions with his music. He strongly believes that through music, he is able to convey unspoken thoughts and emotions. With that, he hopes to capture audiences with his sound and sincerity, on the piano.

Notable performances by Benedict during his time in the College include the 2020 Piano Concerto Competition where students have to compose their own cadenza, LASALLE Open House 2020, Bel Amour: A Valentine's Season Piano Recital (2020) at library@esplanade and LASALLE's Piano Voyage VII: The Museum of Musical Reflection (2021). He also participated recently in the 2021 LASALLE Lunchtime Concert Series: Will it Classical? and Piano Voyage VIII: A Night at the Opera. Benedict was also an accompanist for the 2020 Chopin Music and Dance Collaboration with the Diploma in Dance students.

Outside of school, Benedict has also taken part in musical competitions and masterclasses to further enhance his musicianship. He won the Platinum Award at the 4th Overseas Performers' Festival and was the Star Award recipient for the 4th Overseas Performers' Festival, and subsequently invited to perform in the Gala Concert@CHIJMES.
