Thesis work

There’s Cake in Here is a collection of four interconnected stories, each featuring a Singaporean woman in a different decade of her life, from late teens to mid-forties. In 'Pineapple Fengshui', a young couple perform an elaborate fengshui ceremony in their new flat to ensure an auspicious start to their new life together. 'Department of Righteous Flounces' follows the busy day of a hypercompetent woman as she juggles visits to a dog café, her sick mother, her lover and a difficult sister. Set against the contrasting backdrops of late nineties Edinburgh and Singapore’s bygone kampongs, 'Little Weekend Savages' tells the story of a university student who is caught between her past and present worlds. In 'There’s Cake in Here', a woman recovering from cancer and divorce moves home to Singapore and begins dating.
